The soft rains. They will come.

Alright. There are a lot of things that scare me.
But this. . . This is on the list of things that scare me the most.
I thought I should share with you guys to see what you think.
Do YOU find it scary?

Behind the story of this video:
"There Will Come Soft Rains" is a short story by science fiction author Ray Bradbury which was included in the collection The Martian Chronicles. I myself actually have yet to read it, but from the sounds of it, it sounds like a pretty good read.

The title comes from Sara Teasdale's poem, "There Will Come Soft Rains", The theme of the poem is that nature will survive after humanity is gone, reflecting the theme of the story; that even the vast cities of humanity will eventually be reclaimed by nature.

Alright. Alright. . . I'm okay with this. . . Lets begin.

The robot.
It cooks. No big deal right?
Lets wake the humans up.
Ah? Alright. . . I can see what the humans have to deal with.
Come on people, this isn't some alarm clock you can just igno--
WHAT THE SHIT.
OH GOD-- NOT THE CHILDREN TOO--
GRANDMA NOOOOO!

GAH--! ALRIGHT!! LETS PAUSE FOR A SECOND--
This story takes place in a household in Allendale, California after a nuclear war has wiped out the population. Though the family is dead, the automated house which took care of the family still functions. The house makes breakfast, disposes of it uneaten, and performs various domestic tasks. It freaks me right the hell out man. FUCKING ROBOTS. AND THEIR ABILITY. . . TO. . . NOT DIE. . . LIKE HUMANS. . . I don't even--
LETS CONTINUE!

A PILE OF ASHES CAN'T PRAY. ;__; S--Stupid robot.

N--New years . . . ;__;
. . . Well fuck. . .

The bird trying to fly out of the fake window
is one of the saddest images I have ever seen.

TL;DR? I DON'T GIVE A SHIT.
GO BACK AND WATCH IT.
YOU'LL THANK ME.
. . . maybe . . .

>mfw the cock has long since crowed.
"And Spring herself when she woke at dawn
Would scarcely know that we were gone."
It scares me, because it's true.
It's true. ;__;

  4. You can rest assured that their batteries will eventually die or they will get too squeaky to move correctly.

  5. @ Spacepuppy. But what if they have the nuclear ability to go on for ever and self repair/maintenance? dun Dun DUN!!

That was so incredibly depressing and horrible. I almost cried when that stupid bird was trying to get into that screen. I swear, it's almost a metaphor for human's addiction to the internet. Glad I watched it.

  7. Dude that's depressing shit right there, lol.
O and to reply to your comment on my disney post: I think I know what you mean. I think as kids we always knew that while these movies are nice, they're not real life. The lesson I always walked away with from watching those videos were things like "being nice pays" or "use your brains, not your brawns." So I dunno why all these "experts" are freaking out over the movies, lol.
That's not to excuse the movies as being "gender equal" or what not, but that's not the movie's fault. We as a sexist society made those movies to reflect our view.

  8. There Will Come Soft Rains was in my school's literature textbook. I'm pretty sure I'm the only who even bothered to read it, but it was nice.
